The Academic Affairs Committee works to enhance the education of materials students; is the MRS liaison with ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology); encourages student interactions in MRS activities and governance, as well as in the broader materials community; and addresses student needs through the student chapters, special projects, and international initiatives. The committee serves in an advisory capacity to University Chapters and maintains a current record of University Chapter officers and advisors. Academic Affairs Committee also includes the Accreditation Subcommittee, Education Subcommittee, International Student Affairs Subcommittee and University Chapters and Special Projects Subcommittee.

responding to and initiating opportunities to interact nationally and

in which the Society participates. This includes technical and
non-technical content, tutorials, workshops, electronic content
delivery, experiments in new meetings, as well as co-sponsored,

and shall provide direction to and review of the society’s print and
electronic publications, including journals, books, news, educational
and all other publications. It shall oversee general editorial policy,
engage in strategic planning and development of the Society’s current
and future publications, recommend and work with partner entities where
appropriate, and initiate publication focused task forces and
